This Designer Spotlight is a special one. Why so special? Caroline Gidiere is responsible for my favorite room of all time. Let that sink in. All time. And, no surprise, it features plenty of Bowood.
Before I show you the room, let’s dive in to a little background on Caroline Gidiere. Named as one of six “Next Legends” by Veranda in 2021, Caroline’s style is a modern take on traditional. According to her website, “Caroline has developed her eye for design over a lifetime, from attending school in Paris where she studied architecture, art, and literature, to extensive travels throughout the European continent.” She is based in Birmingham, Alabama.
Why do I love her style? I’m drawn to her use of pattern and of color (hello putting purple and orange together), while maintaining a modern traditional aesthetic. I also love her liberal use of baskets!
Alright, let’s look at some pictures. First up, the room. My all time favorite. You may recognize it if you’ve read my 10 Elements of Grandmillennial Style post.

Anyone else swooning? Check out the mix of patterns! Chintz, ikat, and animal!
Ok. Enough of that. She has designed plenty of other stunning rooms. I love the ruffle on this chair and ottoman.

Such a pretty sitting area.

Chinoiserie + a skirted table is a winning combination in this dining room.

This color scheme is amazing. Definitely not something you see everyday.

Last one, and it’s a beauty. I love this vignette and the colorful chinoiserie wallpaper! The basket and terracotta pots keep it from feeling too formal.

Do you like Caroline’s work as much as I do? Share why in the comments!
